Green plum (Buchanania obovata) is ready to eat before the wet season starts. It has many names – it’s called Manybung in Ganalbingu, Djinba, and Mandjalpingu; Munytjut in Djambarrpuyngu and Gupapuyngu; and Birriki in Rembarrnga.
The ripe soft fruit falls to the ground where it is collected for eating. In December, Ranger Rexy Djarrkadama was helping the harvest along by kicking fruit-laden trees! Cockatoos also like to eat the fruit.
